So- I've been away for quite some time. No excuses!

Where have I been and what have I been doing? PR always, but I also took some time to really enjoy NYC, my friends, solo time and an island getaway with my road-dog "Ms.T"

I'm also (openly) announcing my new fitness regimen and tracking its progress on the bloggie. I'll be going green this summer. Trying to stick to only veggies and healthy crap. So wish me luck!

A Day In the Life: Inwood Adventures & Central Park Heat

This weekend was truly beautiful. Despite a crippling heatwave- I was able to enjoy the company of good friends and icy beer.

On Saturday I made a trip uptown to visit my pal R.Thentic (who if you don't already know- is AN INCREDIBLE producer). In celebrating the countdown to his big 3-0, lucky attendees got a sneak peek into his upcoming album. The tracks really left me speechless- it was one of those moments where you don't even need to speak to anyone else sitting in the room because you are all quietly vibing. The music truly does speak for itself- complex, emotional, and mysterious. I can't wait until it becomes available for the public so I can share it with everyone!!!!!!!

A Day In The Life: Only In NY

My favorite season is Summer in NY (yes...specifically NY). While the heat from the subway station may be a killer- nothing trumps the chill atmosphere of summer nights with your friends.

7pm: Brooklyn/PowerHouse Arena - Highwater Music. Chopped it up with some of the usual suspects. Ran into Konate of Slam Magazine. . . and got to see amazing photgraphy while doing it all!

9:30: Dinner with the man-tourage. T+S+M and myself. FYI--Watching men try to pick girls up in a BBQ spot is hilarious, but then hearing about how they strategize it is even better...

Guys are funny...and ps: they wil eternally wonder why girls go to the bathroom together. I had to drop some knowledge today & spill some secrets (sorry ladies!)

11:30: Santos Party House

I was supposed to meet my new co-workers, but got a big fat DENIAL at the door when I tried to get in. Thats what happens in NY when you leave a list with a woman in a bad mood! Ironically my man-tourage had been planning on going to a party at the same spot (on a different floor) and actually knew the doorman there.

11:45: We roll into the upstairs of Santos Party House where Q-Tip & Rich Medina were spinning (I am SO NOT mad this was my fate for the evening). The music was ON POINT & Q-Tip kept asking everyone to Salute Nas who was in the house. 40 songs & tons of sweat later....my body was begging me to leave, but the music kept forcing me to stay & dance.

some dance highlights included: Lord Sear breaking it down & The Retro Kidz doing their usual bobby brown routine

3:00: I realize that I'm dying of dehydration & I need to leave. T&I grab some of our fave beverages and make the most of a beautiful evening & perfect weather- so we take a long walk to the park (and our trains).

4:00: Finally head home.

good music. good company. and a hell of a good time! The weekend has JUST started & saturday and Sunday will be even more musically packed.

New York (PRWEB) July 7, 2008 -- As Hip Hop continues to thrive and influence today's mainstream pop culture after three decades of growth, the world-famous Rock Steady Crew is on the verge of their 31st Anniversary. The historic four-day celebration kicks off in New York City beginning Thursday, July 24 with the legendary Celebrity Benefit Basketball Challenge, and will wrap on Sunday, July 27 with the Outdoor Concert in Newark, New Jersey as an official event at the Third Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival.

Since its inception in 1977, The Rock Steady Crew has upheld the vision of great B-boys and B-girls who have redefined modern day dance and Hip Hop art. Throughout their career, RSC has showcased their skills from the streets to Carnegie Hall to the Royal Variety Performance for the Queen of England. They were honored at the first VH1 Hip Hop Honors, and have appeared several TV shows, including NBC's Dancing With The Stars. Additionally, Crazy Legs has performed in films and on Broadway, and has choreographed videos and appearances for celebrities including John Leguizamo, Wyclef John and Moby.

Each year, Rock Steady Crew President Crazy Legs coordinates the anniversary in conjunction with the Backspin Productions team to produce the best events possible for the enjoyment of everyone who attends.

"Our goal is to always provide the global community with a nice balance of Hip Hop that caters to people who support all elements of our culture," explains Crazy Legs. "This year we will be honoring the legacy of Wayne 'Frosty Freeze' Frost, who recently passed away on April 3, 2008. Frosty Freeze was one of the last B-boys who embodied the very DNA of the original style, character and moves that existed when this dance began in the early '70s.

The Rock Steady Crew 31st Anniversary events begin the morning of Thursday, July 24, 2008 with the Celebrity Benefit Basketball Challenge and the Against The Grain Concrete B-Boy/B-Girl Battle at NYC's infamous bball battleground, The Cage on West 4th Street. As the afternoon progresses, a B-boy dance workshop will be presented by Crazy Legs at the Red Bull building. The night will round out with the "For The Funk Of It" Funkstyles Party, featuring a special live performance from Hip Hop pioneer Kurtis Blow.

On Friday, July 25, Frienemies will meet and represent the B-boy/B-girl ciphers at 101 River View at Grand Hall on Sixth Avenue in NYC. This will also be the UK B-boy Championships US Qualifier, deciding who will go on to represent the nation in the ultimate international B-boy challenge. The iconic DJ Red Alert will spin breakbeats at the event in honor of his "25 Years on Radio Anniversary.

Everyone will reconvene at the Grand Hall on Saturday, July 26 for a full day of intense 5-on-5 Crew Battles and the Spy Awards. B-boys and B-girls from around the world will represent to win the grand prize, as round-by-round eliminations ultimately decide the winning crew. July 26 is also proudly the Official Rock Steady Crew Day in New York City, as proclaimed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

For the anniversary's grand finale, Rock Steady is joining with Newark, New Jersey's Third Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival on Sunday July 27 to present the Free Outdoor Concert and Food Drive in honor of Frosty Freeze.

This acclaimed all-day concert is open to the public, and will feature performances from several amazing artists, including The Beatnuts, Buckshot, Craig G & Marley Marl, Sadat X, Soul Sonic Force, Positive K, Grand Master Caz, DJ Premier featuring NYG'z & Blaq Poet, Termanology & DJ Statik Selektah, A-OK, Akrobatik, Skyzoo, Double Barrel and a Female Cipher - Lyric a.k.a. The AP Skate Park
A skate park including ramps and a half-pipe will be erected in the BAM car park and open for 5 full days of the festival. Staffed by BMX pro skaters who will give demonstrations, the AP Skate Park will provide free instruction for youth of all ages along with boards, pads, and helmets. Rounding out the Skate Park will be a music stage hosting a high-energy series of DJ sets and band performances.

The AP Art Series
This year AP presents the work of artists chosen from a supremely talented pool of young exhibition hopefuls, including a cooperative graffiti mural project courtesy of the Trust Your Struggle Art Collective. The critically acclaimed, multi-national collective of brilliant young visual artisans will bring more than 25 artists together to co-create a mural over the course of 5 days at the AP Skate Park.

THE BLOCK PARTY
The Afro-Punk Festival marketplaces will feature emerging artisans of the AP movement, representing music, fashion, arts & crafts, and more. And in a special collaboration between Afro-Punk, BAM, and MARP, the bi-monthly open-air Brooklyn Urban Arts Market (exclusively featuring local businesses) will launch during the AP Block Party.

Like every powerful music-based movement, Afro-Punk is deeper, broader, and more complex than a a simple genre designation. Best Known for his work with MUPPETS...Love began his career as a marionette maker and costume designer for Broadway and other stage productions as early as the 1930s!

Initially Love was not associated with J.Henderson (creator of KERMIT THE FROG), but in the 60s fate came knocking and these incredible artists crossed paths....

As love built his own reputation & perfected his craft he brought us all two of our favorite and most adored characters-Big Bird & Mr. Snuffleupagus. His vision for Big Bird was for the puppet to shed feathers in the course of normal movement, "Not unlike a tree shedding leaves in the Fall" to appear more natural to young viewers.

Love then went on to work on the Muppet Show & Various other films.

A few nights ago I had the pleasure of watching Adele perform at the Highline Theatre.

In a moment of admiration of her voice- this sparked me to think- why are people only getting signed as soul singers these days if they have a british accent? SERIOUSLY... what happened to American greats & the paths they've led up until now?

Have The glory days of Jill Scott, the former Lauryn Hill, and all of their glorious counterparts come to an end? Now you are subjected only to the likes of Amy Winehouse sing-a-likes...not to say these women don't have great talent...but makes you wonder- what is really good in London that aint poppin' here?

Maybe we should all just praise Mark Ronson (responsible for the upstart of Amy, Lily Allen, and now Adele)...anywho...

Adele was awesome! Beautiful spirit, voice, and energy. Initially her attitude in interviews seems a little rough around the edges- but She is just aware of her talent, but not jaded (yet) or cocky. She's simply a nervous little newbie who burps when she's had too much pineapple juice before a show.

And for the record- I STILL don't think anybody does a better Etta James cover than my Girl Christina Aguilera- LOVE YOU GIRL! :) She's always gonna be my #1!

Now i'm a huge fan of mid-century illustrations...the ability to blend an old fashioned look yet keep it relevant in todays scene. Props!

What I'd really love to see someone do (if it hasn't been done already) is see someone create a shoes based on the look & sentiment of Mr.Softee...he is kind of awesome! But they'd have to write in the swirly mr.softee font on the back of the shoes. and make something funky on the laces to resemble sprinkles & 50s flair. lol
